About Us

Hello, we are Heidi and Sara Zelonka, mother and daughter owners of The Healthy Alternative Market & Deli. Below is a little bit about us and how we came to open the store.

In May 2007, a significant coincidence happened to Heidi. Her local natural food store had closed and at the same time she was looking to change her career path. Her daughter, Sara had spent the past six years living in Florida and had recently moved back to the area. A lifelong health enthusiast, Heidi seized the opportunity to fulfill her dream of providing natural and organic foods to others who appreciate it. When they considered the Storrs area, they immediately knew it would be a great location for their store.

And so The Healthy Alternative Market was born. After months of blood, sweat & tears the doors opened in October 2007 by the mother/daughter team!
